Keto Butter Paneer is a very rich & nutritious dish. Butter paneer is also known as paneer makhanwala. It is the cousin of butter chicken and it is the main dish in vegetarian restaurants especially in Mughlai or North Indian restaurants. This dish originated from the North of India. Keto Butter Paneer consists of fresh paneer cooked in a silky, creamy, and buttery gravy of tomato. This keto butter paneer has just 4g of carbs and 4g of net carbs in it. Butter paneer has a high content of proteins (11g) in it. This recipe is for four persons.

EQUIPMENT:

INGREDIENT

  • 200gm paneer
  • 45gm onion
  • 75-gram tomato puree
  • 75gm fresh cream
  • 30gm butter
  • 1 tsp. ginger & garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon seeds of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi (dry leaves of fenugreek)

Dry spices

  • ¼ tsp. Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp. Red chili powder
  • ½ tsp. Coriander powder
  • ¼ tsp. powder (Garam masala)
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Coriander leaves (garnish)
  • ½ cup Water

INGREDIENT NOTES:

PANEER:

  • I use paneer which is a cheese and a vegetarian option in the keto diet. We would also make this dish with chicken (butter chicken).

ONION:

  • I use onions in this recipe; it helps to make its gravy.

TOMATO PUREE:

  • I utilize pre-made tomato puree bought from store in butter paneer. You can make the puree of tomatoes at home.

FRESH CREAM:

  • You can use unsweetened fresh cream. You can also use the cream that you get after boiling milk.

BUTTER:

  • Butter is used to make the gravy of paneer rich, smooth, and silky.

GINGER & GARLIC PASTE:

  • I use store-bought paste. But you can make your paste of ginger and garlic.

INSTRUCTION:

  1. Place the saucepan on the medium heat.
  2. Add the 30gm of butter to the pan and melt it.
  3. After this, include the onion to the butter and make the onion transparent and soft.
  4. Include the spices ¼ tsp. turmeric, ½ tsp. Kashmiri red chili powder, ½ tsp. Coriander powder, ¼ tsp. garam masala powder and 1 tsp. Garlic & ginger paste.
  5. Cook it for about 2 minutes and add 75gm puree of tomato and half cup water mix well and cook it for 10 mints.
  6. Cut the pieces of paneer into small cubes and stir fry the pieces of paneer till they are of nice brown color.
  7. Meanwhile, the sauce is simmering, reduce the sauce and cook the tartness of the puree.
  8. When it is done sprinkle the salt and kasuri methi and tosses it well.
  9. Then include the cream and mix it again.
  10. Then add the paneer in the last.
  11. Dish out the butter paneer in the bowl and put some butter and coriander leaves to garnish it.

TIPS:

  • Fry the paneer, it is tastier and it becomes more chewable.
  • Keep an eye on the onion so that it just becomes translucent, not brown. It will ruin the gravy’s color.
  • You can serve the butter paneer with hot naan.
  • If you are not vegetarian, utilize the same recipe and include the chicken as a substitute of paneer.

FRIDGE:

  • You can stock it up in a sealed box for 2-3 days.

Freeze:

  • Try not to freeze this dish, as the cream in the dish will get split upon heating.

Is there any alternative to paneer?

  • Yes, you can make it with chicken if you are not nor vegetarian you will get butter chicken in place of butter paneer.

 May we use any alternative of cream?

  • You may use coconut cream in place of fresh cream.
