Keto Turkey Ragu is a healthy, nutritious, and wholesome meal. It is not a fancy food made with easily available constituents and a simple method. It is liked by everyone in the family and even kids love it so much. Keto Turkey Ragu is made with tomatoes, onion, herbs, and red wine. Turkey Ragu is a low-carb and protein-rich dish. It has just 5.4g of carbs and 22.6g of protein in the Turkey Ragu. We can also make this Turkey Ragu in advance and freeze it. Storing this dish will not alter its flavor and appearance.

INGREDIENT:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup onion (chopped)
  • 2 ribs of celery (medium)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 pieces of garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tbsp. of Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes
  • 1 ½ lb. ground turkey
  • ¾ cup red wine/ chicken broth
  • 1 cup low-carb marinara
  • 14 ounces of diced tomatoes

INGREDIENT NOTES:

OLIVE OIL:

  • I use olive oil in the Turkey Ragu. We can make this Ragu with Avocado oil as well.

RED WINE:

  • Red wine is use in Turkey Ragu. You can make the Turkey Ragu with chicken soup also.

CELERY:

  • In the recipe of the original Turkey Ragu carrots and celery both are used. But carrots are high in carbs so I just used celery in it.

SEASONINGS:

  • I seasoned Turkey Ragu with fresh garlic, Italian seasoning powder, and red pepper flakes. It enhances the flavor of this dish.

TURKEY:

  • This dish is named Turkey Ragu, so obviously it is made with Turkey (minced). We can also make this with beef (minced).

DICED TOMATOES:

  • You can make dice with fresh tomatoes as well. We can also use diced can tomatoes from store. .

LOW-CARB MARINARA:

  • Buy the Mariana by reading the label. But the Mariana that contains no sugar.

INSTRUCTION:

  1. Place pan on heat (medium) and add the 2 tbsp. Olive oil in it.
  2. When the oil gets hot add the ¼ cup of chopped onion, and celery and add a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Toss the onion and celery with salt and pepper for like 4 mints.
  4. Add 2 pieces of garlic, 1 tbsp. of Italian seasoning, and ¼ tsp. of red pepper flakes.
  5. Cook all the things until it gives a nice aroma like for a minute.
  6. Then transfer the 1 ½ lb. turkey (minced) to the pot and cook for about 7 minutes or till it cooks mostly.
  7. Add the ¾ cup red wine or chicken soup to the pot and stir it frequently till it reduces one-third of the actual amount.
  8. Add 1 cup of low-carb sauce (marinara) and tomatoes (diced). Boil it for 15 minutes to incorporate all the flavors together.
  9. And the dish is ready to serve.

SERVING SUGGESTION:

  • You can serve this Keto Turkey Ragu with cauliflower rice, or mashed cauliflower.
  • Also, have the Turkey Ragu with sautéed vegetables.
  • You can serve this with easy keto noodles like egg white noodles, zucchini noodles, shiritake noodles, or with Palmini.
  • You may have it with tortillas too.

TIPS:

  • If you make this Turkey Ragu recipe with beef instead of Turkey, use low-fat beef to avoid extra greasy Ragu.
  • The use of red wine enhances its flavor. If you don’t consume alcohol, you can use chicken soup also just increase the time of cooking for a few minutes.
  • You can serve this dish with egg white noodles, zucchini, shiitake noodles, or palmini.

FRIDGE:

  • You can put the Turkey Ragu in the sealed box and stock it up for 4-5 days.

FREEZE:

  • Transfer the Turkey Ragu to a freezer-safe box and stock it up for 4-5 months.

  • This Turkey Ragu has just 6.6g of carbs with just 5.4g of net carbs and 1.2g of fiber per serving.

How can I store this Turkey Ragu?

  • You can put the Turkey Ragu in a sealed box and stock it for 4-5 days in the fridge and 4-6 months in the freezer. You can melt the Turkey Ragu overnight in the refrigerator or simply heat it on the stove.

Is marinara sauce low in carbs?

  • The store-bought sauces have high sugar content and are not good not the keto diet. But there are some brands like Rao’s or Yo Momma’s that are low in carbs just have 6g of carbs per half cup of serving. There is just a need to check the label before buying or you can simply make it at home.
