Ingredients:
- 4 large yellow onions, sliced thinly
- 4 tbsp. unsalted butter
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup dry sherry
- 1 tsp. fresh thyme leaves
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 4 oz. shredded Gruyere cheese
Instructions:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions to the pot and stir to coat them in the butter.
