If you have crab meat with dairy items and all other components then it takes 30 or 35 minutes to come to your table. You can buy readymade dip from the market but when you make it at home you have the wide chance to personalize the crab dip according to your taste: if you want to make it light then you can replace sour cream with Greek yoghurt, If you want to add more protein then you can increase the amount of meat in crabs, if you want to make it spicy then you can have extra red pepper flakes as well, etc. Keto Hot Crab Dip is satisfying and you don’t feel hungry for quite a long time as it has more fats, moderate proteins, and very low carb, a perfect keto dip.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 227 grams of lump crab meat.
  • Softened cream cheese, 227 g.

LUMP CRAB MEAT: If you want to get big chunks of crab in the dip then go for jumbo crabs. If you have the leftover fresh crab meat then it will also taste very nice. Otherwise, backfin crab meat and claw meat are the cheapest alternatives you can use but they don’t taste that well.

CREAM CHEESE: Always make sure to soften the cream cheese so that it combines well to make a smooth paste. Use full-fat, or low-fat cream cheese according to the extent of creamy richness you want in your dip.

HOT SAUCE: The name “hot crab dip” does not indicate its spiciness. This dip is usually served hot which is why we add “hot” to its name. You are most welcome to add more hot sauce, jalapeno pepper, cayenne pepper powder, or black pepper if you wish the dip to be too spicy.

SOUR CREAM: it adds a tangy and creamy texture to our dip but if you want the lighter version then replace it with Greek yogurt which will give the same taste.

CHIVES: Chopped fresh chives give a fresh green colour if we use them for garnishing. We can also use green onion to give a lovely presentation.

MAYONNAISE: A combination of mayonnaise and sour cream gives a unique creamy taste. Still, you are free to use only one of them. We can use homemade keto mayonnaise or buy the keto version from the grocery store.

CHEESE: The recipe uses cheddar cheese but you can swap it with either mozzarella or parmesan cheese as well. You can buy a block of cheese and shred it by yourself at home as it saves you money or buy the shredded one which must be a little expensive but it can cut your time of shredding.

OLD BAY SEASONING: If you have the old bay seasoning available then you don’t have to add each of the spices one by one and bring out the delicious taste.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Set the temperature of the oven to 177 C by rolling the temperature knob.
  2. Pick a big bowl and add the homemade or commercial old bay seasoning, mayonnaise, cream cheese, lemon juice, and sour cream.
  3. Mix to combine well.

  • Whenever you want to impress the guests with the next-level hot crab dip, you can add one or a couple of the items listed below:
  • Add one or two dice jalapenos to give your dip a spicy touch.
  • The addition of a little garlic powder or a couple of minced fresh garlic also gives the dip a unique and pleasing fragrance.
  • You can add crab meat to the spinach artichoke dip for the delicious variation. you can also include half a cup of chopped artichoke hearts (dipped in brine) and 1/2 cup of strained defrosted spinach to the hot crab dip.
  • You can also include a little Worcestershire sauce to enhance the flavour. Its sweetness won’t affect your carbs
  • The recipe does not use any salt as the old bay seasoning and cheeses already contain salt. If you feel it less salty then feel free to add salt up to your taste.

FREEZER: When we defrost the dip for serving you will not like its texture. The freezing and unfreezing process will give the dip a weird texture
